In the commemoration ceremony of the International Maritime Day, which was held in the presence of the Director General of Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province, Commander of the Northern Fleet and Commander of the Fourth Naval Region of Imam Reza (AS), the Deputy Coordinator of the Commander of Imam Khamenei University of the Revolutionary Guards and the Governor of Bandar Anzali, the proper cooperation and efforts of the Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province with other agencies were appreciated and the necessity of infrastructure development was emphasized.
According to
the Public Relations of Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province,
Admiral Amir II, Abdul Wahab Taheri, Commander of the Northern Fleet and
Commander of the Fourth Naval Region of Imam Reza (AS), in commemoration of
World Maritime Day with appreciation of sailors in all areas of military,
security, and economic, said: "We have seen good growth in three areas of science and industry, maritime trade, and military
and defense, but this trend must continue."
Referring to
the active presence of the Navy and the IRGC in the high seas, he acknowledged:
"In previous years, we faced the ominous phenomenon of pirates, but our
vessels in the high seas were able to carry out their missions properly, even
in remote areas."
Referring to
the 2,700-kilometer sea border of the country, Taheri said: "93 percent of
oil exports and 87 percent of non-oil exports are made by sea, and this has
been achieved with the help of knowledge and sustainable security in the
region."
Referring to
the efforts and cooperation of the Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan
Province with the Command of the Fourth Naval Region of Imam Reza (AS), he noted:
"We hope that with the assistance, cooperation and empathy of the Ports
and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province, we can maintain the safety of sea
lines. We also hope to see the development of the maritime transport industry
by increasing the activities of private companies affiliated with the Ports and
Maritime Organization."
Achieving to Good Events and Achievements in the Maritime Field, Thanks to
the Islamic Revolution
Sardar Asghar
Shokrollahi, the Deputy Coordinator of the Imam Khamenei Maritime University of
the Revolutionary Guards, while congratulating the International Maritime Day,
said: "All governments are taking steps to protect national interests, and
the Islamic Republic of Iran is no exception."
He considered
policy-making for national interests and its specialized monitoring as two very
important factors in the maritime field and said: "Although we have a
history of more than 700 years at sea, but good measures have not been taken
throughout history, but thanks to the Islamic revolution, we have witnessed
good events and achievements."
Sardar
Shokrollahi added: "In the last two decades, we have started to build
military and commercial vessels and we have witnessed many growth and
developments in various sectors, but we should not stop at this point and we
should pave the way with more power and relying on the knowledge of young
people of the country to achieve what we deserve, and in this regard, the
infrastructure must be considered too.”
The Commander
of the Imam Khamenei Naval University of the Revolutionary Guards stated that
we must have increasing growth in three areas of science and industry, maritime
trade, and military and defense. He added: "We have a high capacity in the
maritime education sector in the province and we can take effective steps by
synergizing all organizations and institutions."
Stating that
the Islamic Republic of Iran has been able to maintain maritime security with a
proper deterrent role, he reminded: “the Navy Army and the navy of the
Revolutionary Guards have been able to play a role in the seas and open waters
in a way that provides the necessary security for vessels in the region.”
Appreciation for the Good Actions of the Ports and Maritime Authority of
Guilan Province in the Field of Maritime Transport and International Trade
Ismail
Mirghazanfari, the governor of Bandar Anzali, also emphasized the importance
and value of maritime transport and said: "85% of world trade is done by
sea and this shows the importance of the maritime transport fleet and naming
this day is an excuse for appreciating the efforts of the maritime community.”
He continued:
"A large part of the country's trade and political and social relations
are the responsibility of seafarers, and with appropriate measures taken in maritime
transport and ports, the Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province,
despite the outbreak of Corona virus and sanctions imposed in the field of exports
and imports, were able to achieve desirable results.”
The governor of
Bandar Anzali, referring to the hard work of maritime community and
appreciating their efforts to achieve economic prosperity, said: "All the
people of the country are taking steps to achieve the goals of our homeland and
we will see the realization of our goals to achieve free trade."
