Implementation of Large Container Terminal Project in Anzali Port/ Monitoring of Coasts and Ports of Guilan to Deal with Illegal Occupation of Coasts and Unauthorized Constructions
The Director General of Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province, referring to the implementation of the large container terminal project in Anzali Port, said: "Global monitoring of the Caspian Sea is done with the aim of preventing illegal constructions."

According to the Public Relations of the Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province, Hamidreza Abaie in an interview, referring to the amount of loading and unloading of goods in the ports of Guilan Province, said: “fortunately, with the coordination and good measures taken in this field, including the development of infrastructure and the use of efficient equipment, we saw a 56% growth in imports and exports of goods in the first six months of this year.”

Referring to the effective activities of Caspian Port, Anzali Port and Astara Port in the field of maritime transportation, the Director General of Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province added: “these activities caused the ports of Guilan to reach their true status. The volume of loading and unloading of goods in Anzali Port for the current year was more than 750,000 tons, which is equal to a growth of 53%.”

Abaie assessed the volume of non-oil exports of the province in the first 6 months of this year as favorable and said: "This volume of exports caused us to provide a better place to use round trip loaded ships and our goal is that every ship that brings goods to Anzali Port, do not return empty on the way back, so that the interests of the country and exporters are secured.”

Pointing out the importance of using the capacity of refrigerated containers in the ports of Guilan province, he said: “We are looking for multi-purpose ports, and in order to be multi-purpose, port conditions should be shifted to activities other than the handling of grain and miscellaneous goods, and container and bulk operations should be considered.”

The Director General of Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province announced the use of container transportation capacities as one of the main priorities of Anzali Port and stated: “Anzali Port has a special place in container transportation, so that in the first 6 months of this year, container operations in this port grew by 73%.”

Abaie added: "Products such as fruits and vegetables and some perishable materials need refrigeration, so we are providing the necessary conditions in this regard, and according to the coordination we had with the Caspian littoral countries, Anzali Port and Astara port, we have installed about 68 connection plugs for refrigerated containers in Anzali Port.”

The Director General of Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province, referring to the installation of 12 plugs for connecting refrigerated containers in Astara port, said: “using refrigerated containers is always a priority so that we can achieve more success in exporting fruits and vegetables produced in Guilan and other neighboring provinces.”

He added: "fortunately, with the measures taken, we exported two refrigerated containers, including fruits and vegetables produced by Guilan and West Azerbaijan Provinces, to Kazakhstan, and we hope to see direct and regular lines of container operations between Guilan ports and the Caspian littoral states."

Abaie announced the implementation of the large container terminal project in Anzali port and said: “the necessary infrastructure in this area is being provided, including the collection of surface water and canalization that is underway. Of course, we also have the arrangement of installation connections and power supply to the docks on the agenda.”

Referring to the monitoring of Guilan coasts and ports to combat illegal occupation of coasts and unauthorized constructions in Guilan province, he noted: "This program is underway and we will immediately submit the relevant reports to the responsible and judicial authorities of the province. Meanwhile, nationwide monitoring of the Caspian Sea has already begun.”
