The Managing Director of the Ports and Maritime Organization said: "Iran's commercial ports, with appropriate infrastructure, equipment and superstructures, carry out maritime transportation operations."
According to the Public Relations Department of
the Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province,
Mohammad Rastad in the ceremony of exploiting the development and capital
projects of Anzali Port, which was held in the presence of the Minister of
Roads and Urban Development, noted: “Iran's commercial ports are geographically
favorable and can account for a significant share of regional transit."
Noting that the annual capacity of commercial
ports on the north coast is about 30 million tons, he said: "With the
implementation of development projects in Anzali Port, new capabilities have
been added to the infrastructure of this port."
The Managing Director of the Ports and
Maritime Organization added: "By creating new capabilities and upgrading
the existing capabilities of ports, we expect to increase the use of maritime
transport advantages and increase Iran's share of regional transit."
Referring to the construction of the third
phase of the container terminal of Shahid Rajaei port, he said: “With the
implementation and completion of this project, the container capacity of the
most important port terminal in the country will increase to 8 million TEU and
by the end of this year, a very important part of container terminal development
will be completed, which is over 900 meters berth and can accept liner ships up
to 18,400 TEU.”
"According to our quantitative goals, the
capacity of commercial ports, which is currently 246 million tons, will
increase to 260 million tons by the end of the year, and this capacity will
reach 285 million tons by next year," said the Managing Director of the
Ports and Maritime Organization.
