Marine search and rescue and oil pollution prevention maneuvers were held at the Astara Port Complex and marine border.
According to the public relations of Ports and Maritime Authority
of Guilan province, before noon on Sunday, a marine search and rescue and oil
pollution prevention maneuver was held in the Astara Special Economic Zone,
Port Complex and Marine Border with the presence of experts in this field.
In this maneuver, the participating teams
demonstrated their skills in this field by controlling oil pollution, search
and rescue at sea to move injured people to land, firefighting operations and
using the navy of the army, border guards, naval police, Red Crescent and
Emergency in Astara Port.
The head of Astara Port and Maritime
Administration and the person in charge of dealing with emergencies and
maritime accidents in the city, on the sidelines of the maneuver, told
reporters: “the purpose of this maneuver is to improve the level of local
preparedness for rapid and effective response to maritime accidents, develop an
internal cooperation with companies located in the port to deal with maritime
accidents and reduce potential damages and implement the requirements and
objectives of related conventions.”
Kianoosh Amiri pointed out that the other
objectives of this maneuver are to evaluate and ensure the readiness of
personnel related to search and rescue activities at sea, dealing with oil
pollution, firefighting and medical relief, evaluation for planning,
organizing, directing and controlling operations, evaluating the power of
existing equipment in case of major accidents, assess operations support
resources, raise seafarers' awareness, spread search and rescue culture,
preserve marine environment, promote maritime safety and protect marine
environment.
