A member of the Executive Board, Deputy of Ports and Economic Affairs of the Ports and Maritime Organization, said during a visit to the Astara Port Special Economic Zone: "We anticipate that we will provide the necessary and desired depth for this port by August 1."
According to the public
relations of Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province, at noon on
Saturday, June 26, Farhad Montaser Kouhsari; Member of the Executive Board and
Deputy of Port and Economic Affairs of the Ports and Maritime Organization
together with Hamid Reza Abaie; Director General of Ports and Maritime of
Guilan Province, Ravanbakhsh Behzadian; General Manager of Port Affairs
Department, Khosrow Sarai; Director General of Transit, Logistics and
Agreements Department as well as Hossein Sadeghinejad Parizi; the Director
General of Economic Affairs and Regions of the Ports and Maritime Organization
visited the infrastructure and dredging process of the Astara Port Special
Economic Zone.
The Deputy of Ports and
Economic Affairs of the Ports and Maritime Organization told reporters during
the visit: "Good measures such as the construction of a 285-meter pier,
grain silos, open areas and covered warehouses in Astara port have been done by
the private sector, which are commendable."
He added: "Dredging
and fencing have been among the duties of the Ports and Maritime Organization
in this port, and dredging operations are being carried out with two hopper and
cutter dredgers."
Kuhsari, stating that the
port of Astara will be under the control of Kaveh Company for 40 years, noted:
"We anticipate that we will provide the necessary and desired depth for
this port by August 1."
This member of the
Executive Board of the Ports and Maritime Organization, stating that a good
meeting was held in this regard in Astara port, clarified: “this meeting was
held for the purpose of cooperation between Kaveh Company and Ports and
Maritime Authority of Guilan Province to consider the strengths and weaknesses
of dredging operations.”
He continued:
"According to the schedule, dredging of Astara port will be done quickly
so that we can accommodate ships with larger capacity and size and witness the
prosperity and development of this port as much as possible."
