Deputy of Ports and Economic Affairs of Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province announced a 241 percent increase in transit of goods in the first five months of this year compared to the same period last year in Anzali port and said: “52% of the ships that went from Anzali port to the Caspian Littoral States were engaged in round-trip transportation.”
Mohammad Mohsen Salimipour, Deputy of Ports and Economic
Affairs of Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province, in an interview
with the Public Relations of Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province,
reported a 3% and 10% increase in loading and unloading of goods in Anzali and
Astara ports, respectively. He stated: “In the first five months of this year,
the total amount of loading and unloading of goods in Anzali and Astara ports
was 771 thousand tons, from which 677 thousand tons belongs to Anzali port and
94 thousand tons belongs to Astara port.”
Regarding the export of non-oil goods and transit of Anzali
port complex, he noted: “The performance of Anzali port complex in the first
five months of this year in the export of non-oil goods amounted to 153
thousand tons with a significant growth of 91% compared to the same period last
year. These goods include construction goods, chemicals, textiles and fibers,
and minerals that have been shipped to Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and
Turkmenistan, respectively.”
Salimipour added: “in the import and unloading of non-oil
goods, the amount was 515 thousand tons, of which 363 thousand tons are related
to basic goods (cereals), 42 thousand tons are edible oils and 95 thousand tons
are related to wood and boards. The transit sector is also growing by 241
percent, with Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan being the top
countries of origin, respectively.”
Deputy of Ports and Economic Affairs of Ports and Maritime Authority
of Guilan Province pointed to the growth of container operations and said: “loading
and unloading of full and empty containers in Anzali and Astara ports in the
first five months of this year amounted to 2,773 TEU which means a 14% growth.”
He announced the arrival
of 301 vessels in Anzali and Astara ports in the first 5 months of 1400 and
said: "Thanks to proper equipment and improved processes, despite the
spread of the coronavirus, the operational indicators of Anzali and Astara
ports (as the most important components of evaluating any Port) were
significantly upgraded. In a way, the average waiting time and the presence of
ships during the mentioned period in Anzali port complex have been reduced and
improved by 56% and 17%, respectively, and in Astara Special Economic Zone by
29% and 10%, respectively. Also, 52% of the ships that left Anzali port for the
destinations of the Caspian littoral states were engaged in round-trip
transportation, which is also very effective in improving cross-border trade
indicators, especially in reducing the cost of goods and shipping costs.”
Regarding the maritime
performance of the Caspian Free Zone port complex, Salimipour also stated: “The
maritime loading and unloading operations of this complex in the first five
months of this year amounted to 169,000 tons with 51 vessels.”

of Guilan Province reminded: “Despite the
outbreak of Corona virus and its restrictions, as well as the facilities of Guilan
Province in the field of infrastructure and equipment and the existence of
oppressive sanctions, by performing marketing activities and operational and
executive planning in the field of accelerating and facilitating the provision
of services while observing health protocols and redoubled efforts of executive
managers and employees of the port and terminal operator and other private
sectors, the performance of Anzali port has a growing trend and this port plays
a significant role, especially in meeting the needs of the market like basic
goods and cereals.”
