100% Increase in Exports of Goods from Anzali Port

100% Increase in Exports of Goods from Anzali Port
Director General of Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province said: “During the first six months of this year, the export of goods from Anzali Port was 200,000 tons and compared to last year, we had a 100% increase.”

According to the public relations of the Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province, Dr. Hamidreza Abaie in an interview stating that in the first six months of this year we faced a 13% increase in the performance of the Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province, said: “In 1397, the volume of our loading and unloading operations was about 790 thousand tons, which reached 830 thousand tons in the first six months of this year, and this shows that we have been able to overcome obstacles and problems to a considerable extent.”

Director General of Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province said: “Considering that in the second six months of the year, grain imports increase and the rainfall of Guilan Province and especially Anzali will affect loading and unloading operations, over the next two months, we will operate fixed and mobile conveyor belts from the beginning of the new docks to the grain silos in the port area.”

He added: "In this method, using the suction system, we discharge the grains to the transfer systems (conveyors) and from there to the silos so that the grains are less exposed to moisture, and in this regard, we have done the necessary coordination with shipping companies, including Dryaye Khazar Shipping Company, so that the sucker can enter the ships’ holds and the ships are equipped with the required system and valve inside their holds."

Referring to the good performance of Caspian port next to Anzali port, Abaie stated: "Due to the government's macro-policies in the field of import, we had to update the equipment on the agenda and optimize the port conditions and prepare suction equipment especially for grain imports."

He pointed out that out of 830,000 tons of cargo unloaded, almost 700,000 tons were grain, adding: about 35,000 trucks moved this amount of cargo inside the port, of which about 22,000 vehicles moved only grain.

The Director General of Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province, noting that it is very important to facilitate maritime transport, logistics and to create integration and solidarity with other transport sectors, emphasized: “Despite the outbreak of Corona, our colleagues in the maritime transport sector work 24 hours a day in ships and ports, and the truck drivers and the Highways and Road Transport Organization also cooperate very well with us and with their good cooperation and coordination ,the outflow of goods from the port has increased significantly compared to previous years.”

Abaie, stating that in previous years, one of the problems was the excessive retention of goods in the port, said: "With the measures taken, the inventory of basic goods in the port has decreased to about 41%, i.e. any goods that enter the port is delivered to the consumer as soon as possible.”

Pointing out that we were able to unload about 225,000 tons of wheat in the first six months of this year, he noted: “With the measures taken, Anzali port has imported the most wheat compared to other Iranian ports in the Caspian Sea and with the coordination of the customs, the grain organization, as well as the silo owners of Guilan province and other neighboring provinces, all this wheat has been taken out of the port directly.”

Director General of Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province, referring to the 18-hour record in unloading the cargo of a 6,000-ton ship carrying grain, said: “This is in a situation where Anzali has a lot of rainfall due to its geographical location. Also, due to the tourism potential of the city and the restriction of traffic on the roads, this is a good record, and the growth of wheat imports from this port compared to last year has been 250%.”

Abaie, emphasizing that the export of goods is one of the important axes of the ports and maritime activities of Guilan province in Bandar Anzali, clarified: “During the first six months of this year, the export of goods from Anzali was 200,000 tons and compared to last year we had a 100% increase.”

Stressing that with the plans made, we have reduced the stay time and service to the ships, he stated: “before, the time of presence of ships in the port was three days, and now this period has reached 2.3 days.”

The official added: "Regarding the loading of exported goods, we have 23 forklifts and 10 cranes that can carry out operations behind our line, and due to the retirement of a number of colleagues, we have the use of experienced personnel and operators on the agenda."
