Message from the Director General of Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province on the Occasion of World Maritime Day
According to the public relations of the Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province, Dr. Hamidreza Abaie issued a message celebrating World Maritime Day.

The Director General of Ports and Maritime of Guilan Province has stated in this message:

In the Name of God

Trade by sea has been of great interest to commodity owners and governments because of its many benefits to traders and consumers, as well as its very low cost compared to other modes of transportation. So, more than 90% of world trade is done by sea, and therefore many countries are strengthening their maritime and port fleets, and it can be said that the growth prospects of this industry will be very good.

The world economy today, despite various changes such as political issues, travel restrictions and the continuation of the Covid 2019 pandemic, has taken a downward trend, and most of developed or developing economies are witnessing weakening economic growth, but our beloved country relying on the sea-oriented economy and forward-looking planning, as well as the efforts of seafarers and port operators, have been witnessed the growth of loading and unloading operations in most ports of the country.

There are more than one and a half million sailors around the world that in addition to their hard work and the risks they face, the Covid 19 Pandemic has had a significant impact on their work and personal activities, but countries have tried to make them safe by producing vaccines for the virus, and even the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization has considered the vaccination of seafarers very important and called these people as the key personnel. In the Islamic Republic of Iran, with the planning and efforts of the CEO and members of the Executive Board of the Ports and Maritime Organization, this work accelerated and all employees of the port and maritime community of the country became safe against this virus.

This year's World Maritime Day Slogan emphasizes the importance of the human element with the slogan of " Seafarers: at the core of shipping's future" and aims to ensure the safety of human life on the ship and also emphasize the importance of ensuring the training of specialized, professional and trained personnel in the future in order to be ready to face the challenges and create various opportunities, which will result in the development of safe maritime transport.

I congratulate the arrival of the "World Maritime Day" to all sailors and the large port and maritime community of the country, and while wishing them good health along with their dear family, I wish more and more success for these loved ones from God.

Hamidreza Abaie
