Director General of Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province, referring to the sisterhood of Guilan ports with Russian ports, said: "Using these capacities, we must prepare ourselves for the development of relations, equipping ports and symmetry with ports in the Caspian Sea."
According to the Public
Relations Department of the Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan
Province, Dr. Hamidreza Abaie pointed out in
an interview that more than 60% of Iran's maritime trade in the Caspian Sea is
with Russia and said: “it is necessary to develop the maritime relations in
accordance with the rules of the International Maritime Organization and to declare
the sisterhood of the ports of Iran and Russia in order to increase trade
between the two countries.”
Pointing out that one of
the issues should be seen in the sisterhood agreements is the creation of
grounds for a field visit of the existing capacities of the ports from both
sides, he added: “That is, in joint agreements, governments, including Iran and
Russia, agree to trade, improve the level of trade, and increase the volume of
trade.”
Abaie stated: “In
commercial exchanges, one of the most important tasks is to use the capacity of
the ports. Using the sisterhood agreements that take place between the ports,
both parties can easily visit each other's port environments and create
conditions for both to grow symmetrically.”
He added: "It means
that the goods that can be loaded and unloaded in Astrakhan Port can also be loaded
and unloaded in Astara port. Also, in
the field visits that managers and officials make to each other's ports, they
review and resolve the conditions and problems regarding the development of
trade exchanges, and this causes the international corridors of these two ports
to be developed and accelerated.”
Director General of Ports
and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province, referring to two important East-West
and North-South corridors in the Caspian Sea, said: “Part of the capacity of
these transit corridors can be transferred to ports and use the capacity of
ports and with the twinning agreement, the necessary measures can be expedited
in this regard.”
Abaie, pointing out that
with the follow-ups done by the Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan
Province and the agreement of the Ports and Maritime
Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran, We are currently witnessing the
sisterhood of Anzali Port with the port of Aktau and Makhachkala ports in
Russia, said: “The recent agreement between the port of Astara and Astrakhan,
Russia, is a strong point in the activities of the port of Astara, and we must
use these capacities to prepare ourselves for the development of relations,
equipping ports and symmetry with the ports of the Caspian Sea and be able to
make optimal use of these conditions.”
