A consultation meeting on the implementation of the requirements of the MLC 2006 Maritime Labor Agreement was held at Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province.
According
to the public relations report of Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan
Province, at noon on Tuesday, October 11th, a consensus meeting on
the implementation of the requirements of the MLC Maritime Labor Agreement 2006
was held in the presence of seafarers’ affairs experts of the Ports and
Maritime Organization, and officials and representatives from the Department of
Cooperation, Labor and Social Welfare.
In this meeting, while presenting a report on the actions taken by the
Ports and Maritime Organization within the scope of this organization's
responsibilities by the MLC group, regarding issues such as how to handle the
complaints of seafarers, both Iranian and foreign, the process related to the
inquiry of the competence of the seafarers' complaints investigation officer (between
the Department of Cooperation, Labor and Social Welfare of Bandar Anzali City,
the Department of Labor and Employment of Anzali Free Zone Organization), as
well as facilities, facilities and welfare facilities for seafarers on the
coast, etc., were also considered.
Hossein Younesi, Director General of Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan
province, in a meeting with this working group, while pointing out the
importance of addressing the problems of seafarers and acceleration in solving
the problems claimed by them, pointed out the capacity of the newly established
sailors' club as a new base for seafarers.
It is worth mentioning that, considering the presence of the Islamic Republic
of Iran in the Maritime Labor Convention MLC 2006 and the need for the correct
implementation of the provisions of this convention, and considering the
importance of internal and external communication and interactions in order to
explain the Separation of Duties Regulations resulting from the accession of
the Islamic Republic of Iran to Maritime Labor Convention, this meeting was
held in the Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province.
