The Director General of Ports and Maritime Authority of Guilan Province announced that the appropriate depth has been achieved for the safe passage of ships in Astara Port.
In a conversation with the public relations of the Ports and
Maritime Authority of Guilan Province, Hossein Younesi, referring to the
achievement of the appropriate depth for the safe passage of ships in Astara
port, stated: This important achievement has been achieved in four months,
which is the result of a round-the-clock effort of a team of one hundred of
maritime and technical experts and using the maximum capacity of the dredging
equipment of the northern ports in the form of a codified and coherent
operational plan with hundreds of hours of expert work.
He pointed out: the unique coordination between four
dredging vessels in a high-risk operational area in terms of shallow critical
points and numerous adverse weather conditions and with the use of specialized
hydrographic teams in all stages of dredging, this success was achieved.
Currently, the port of Astara, which plays a complementary and important role
for other ports in the province, with a completely safe channel with a minimum
width of 100 meters and a minimum depth of 5.5 meters, as well as a basin with
a minimum depth of 5.5 meters can fulfill its mission in the most suitable
conditions possible.

Province stated: The dredging operation was carried out in line with the
contractual obligations of the Ports and Maritime Organization with the Astara
Port Management Investor Company (Kaveh Marine and Port Services Company) and
from now on October 19, 2022, which the organization's commitment in this
matter has been completed, "Kaveh Marine and Port Services" company
will be responsible for the maintenance of the dams created in order to provide
more economic prosperity in Astara port and also create employment for the
youth of this city.
